You can use heavy string, leather or rope and add miscellaneous beads, toys or left over pieces from old bird toys. Nothing is better than being able to Reuse those few toy pieces left on all of those expensive hanging toys. So every time you change out a hanging toy and there is in good condition a bell, plastic chain or a single large bead left on it, take it off, wash it up and put it in a ziplock bag.
